Happy National Play Outside Day

“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.” John Muir

All year long, we are given numerous opportunities to get outside and play. But too often, life, responsibilities, and distractions keep us from spending time in
the fresh air as we should.

National Play Outside Day is a reminder for us to get outside, enjoy the fresh air and stretch our legs in the great outdoors.

Explore a new hiking trail, tend the garden, head to the beach, go fishing, picnic in a park, golf, fly a kite or take a stroll. You’ll feel better inside and out!

About the picture: Ethan is watering our garden when we lived in Montana while smiling at the Continental Divide. I think the mountain range behind him is the Anaconda-Pintler.

Acumatica User Tip | Using Copy – Paste

Once you become familiar with Acumatica’s Copy & Paste functionality, you can save a lot of time processing transactions.

General Ledger Example
If you have a General Ledger Journal Transaction that was posted to wrong period, you can Copy the original entry (that you have already reversed out):

and paste it into a new Journal Transaction:

We would then update the posting period to the correct date and post the transaction. All done within seconds instead of minutes.

Accounts Payable Example

In this example, the AP Bill we entered is correct except for the GL accounts codes, so we reversed the bill out.

Copy/Paste allows us to quickly reenter the Bill with the correct GL codes.

We can now put the Vendor Reference back in, correct the Account codes and Save the changes to Release when appropriate. Note: when using Copy/Paste in AP Bill and Adjustments, you will not be able to change the Vendor.

Sales Order Example
If you already has a Sales Order (either posted or unposted) in your Acumatica Cloud ERP instance that is a lot like one you need to create, you can Copy it :

and then Paste it into a new Sales Order by click on the Plus (+) sign to create a new empty Sales Order and then Paste the copied information into it:

The line items are now pasted in. Note: the Customer is editable.

ASWi Managed IT Services | Firewall

Your organization depends on reliable network and endpoint protection to ensure that all data is handled, stored, and protected properly. Generally, a comprehensive network security plan includes anti-virus software, access management, zero-trust policies, and endpoint security tools, among other things. A Firewall is considered to be one of the most important components of a network security plan.

A firewall is one of the first lines of defense against malware and attacks, and it has a variety of functions that help safeguard networks and data.

What is a Firewall?
A firewall is a network traffic filtration device that detects and blocks unusual or likely malicious traffic while allowing normal traffic to access your website and mission-critical applications. It bases this filtration on protocols and rules set by your organization, and its protection insulates your internal network from the rest of the internet. In summary, your firewall provides your organization with an initial line of defense against attackers.

Even if an attacker manages to infiltrate your network despite your security protocols, the firewall provides a second line of defense to thwart the attack when the malicious actor attempts to exfiltrate data. Firewalls will flag and block unusual activity, reducing the risk that your data will be stolen or leaked.

Why You Need a Firewall
Just as with your personal health, it’s always faster, better and less painful to use proactive preventative health measures than to reactively put a recovery plan in place after an incident occurs to your business IT infrastructure.

Although firewalls are not a zero-dollar investment, having a preventable data leaks, cyber attacks and/or ransomware attacks will cost exponentially more.

Network Monitoring & Management Practices
By implementing a firewall in conjunction with network monitoring and management practices will help prevent cyberattacks, data leaks and unauthorized network access. n to access your account.

The ASWi Managed IT Services team can help you adopt the best firewall for your environment and business practices. Firewalls are important for creating a secure network, and there are many different types of firewalls that have varying applications. Generally, firewalls filter packets and translate network or port addresses while working with VPNs, but each type has additional features, as well as some pros and cons.

The ASWi Managed IT Services team can help you navigate the jargon and capabilities of proxy, NGFW (next-generation firewalls), stateless and SPI (stateful packet inspection) firewalls to determine what technology is “right-sized” for your network security and budgetary requirements.

Please let our Customer Success Manager Keith Wood know by emailing him at keithw@aswius.com or call him at (717) 581-1226 if you would like to learn more about implementing a new firewall or either optimizing or replacing your organization’s existing firewall.

Sales & Marketing 101 | Tips from Bri

By Bri Williams

The Best Think About This

• Yes, they’ve included a good, clear value proposition “Let us do the house work.”
• They’ve included price, which is a little unusual but clever if more people think it will be more expensive than $82.
• They’ve limited their substantiation points to three; this is good too. More than that and people think you’re trying too hard.
• And they’ve promised it takes 60 seconds to book online, reducing perceived effort.

But the best thing: the call to action is in a complementary but contrasting color. It pops. The customer is left in no doubt what they need to do next. That’s not to say everything’s perfect. For instance, I don’t believe people will be ready to make a booking yet, so the call to action could be worded differently.

But always remember to make your call to action stand out, and that’s what they’ve clearly done.

Data is Currency

We make a mistake when we think data will do the heavy lifting for us.

That facts will convince someone to do something.

It’s better to think of data as currency. It’s not the data points themselves that matter, it’s the meaning ascribed.

So when a stakeholder asks you for data, what they’re most likely seeking is justification. That’s what you need to help them do.

Morning Motivations Recap

Nearly every weekday, a motivational quote is posted on X/Twitter by @ASWiDelivered and on LinkedIn by @ASWi.

• “Focus always precedes success.” Denis Waitley
• “Talent wins games, but teamwork & intelligence win championships.” Michael Jordan
• “Great moments are born from great opportunity.” Herb Brooks
• “We are what we repeatedly do.” Aristotle
