Happy National Marine Day
“We are tied to the ocean.” John F. Kennedy
National Marine Day is a celebration of our oceans and the rich diversity of life they support. Today is a reminder for us to connect with the sea, learn about
marine life, understand the crucial role our oceans play in the environment, and marvel at the beauty of marine ecosystems and recognize the importance of preserving them for future generations..

ISV Spotlight | Heuristyc’s Cost Roll by Component
Heuristyc Cost Roll by Component add-on to Acumatica Cloud ERP can greatly improve and optimize cost updates across multiple product lines.
Scenario:
You have a stock item component (we’ll call it X) that affects the cost of multiple items within your inventory. Traditionally, adjusting the cost of each individual item would be time-consuming and tedious.

• Acumatica TimeClock
• Acumatica PowerDoc
• Acumatica PowerSign

ASWi Managed IT Services | iPhone Users: New Phishing Attack
There is a new wave of phishing attacks specifically targeting iPhone users. These attacks are designed to steal Apple ID information and can have serious security implications.
“Smishing” Attacks
Phishing attacks often appear as legitimate communications from Apple, prompting users to enter their Apple ID and password. These messages may claim there is an issue with your account, a suspicious login attempt, or a need to verify your information.
This particular attack, known as “smishing”, contacts users, requiring them to sign into their iCloud account to continue using its services. The user is then
directed to a fake iCloud URL. If the user logs in, their usernames and passwords are stolen.
Here’s some tips to protect yourself and our organization:
Verify the Source
Always check the sender’s email address. Official emails from Apple will come from an address ending in @apple.com. Be cautious of emails that contain generic greetings like “Dear User” instead of addressing you by name.
Don’t Click on Suspicious Links
Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown or unexpected emails. Instead, go directly to the official Apple website by typing the URL into your browser
Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID for an additional layer of security. This requires a second form of verification to access your account.
Report Suspicious emails to Apple
If you receive a suspicious email, do not respond or provide any personal information. Forward the email to reportphishing@apple.com and delete it from your inbox.
Monitor Your Account
Regularly check your Apple ID account for any unauthorized activity. If you notice anything unusual, change your password immediately.
The ASWi Managed IT Services team can help you recognize and avoid phishing scams.
Please let our Customer Success Manager Keith Wood know by emailing him at keithw@aswius.com or call him at (717) 581-1226 if you would like to learn more about implementing anti-phishing strategies in your organization.
Leadership 101 | Tips from Bri
By Bri Williams
Left-Handed Mouse
Years ago I switched to a left-handed mouse, even though I’m right-handed.
It occurred to me that using my right hand was inefficient: I’d have to stop writing or typing, move my hand to the mouse, click what I needed, and then return to the keyboard or pen. Meanwhile, my left hand sat idle.
We often do things because they seem natural or conventional. But in doing so, we miss other resources, opportunities, and answers. This principle applies to understanding customer behavior too. The prevailing convention is to “listen to your customer” through polls, surveys, social media posts, focus groups, and interviews.
People promise, “I’d definitely buy your product if it had this feature!” Yet we get frustrated when these claimed preferences don’t translate into actual behavior changes.
Should we be surprised? Not really. We all struggle with the ‘say vs. do’ gap in our personal lives. We say we’ll eat healthier, save more, or exercise regularly, but often fail to follow through. It doesn’t make sense to expect more reliable answers just because we’re asking in a business context.
So what if you switched to a “left-handed mouse” approach in understanding your customers? Instead of relying on what they say, what if you could design for what they’ll actually do?
How to Lose $170,000
After Stonehenge, the Roman Baths in Bath is the UK’s second most popular tourist attraction. Making a wish was big business for the Baths, with visitors throwing more than $170,000 worth of coins into the pool annually.
When coins were banned, that all changed. From March 2022, visitors have instead been asked to make a contactless payment or put money in a cash box. But most chose not to. Only $4,500 was donated last year.
Now, there are clear reasons why banning coins was sensible. Coins damage the 2,000-year-old Baths, it’s costly to drain and collect the coins and many people don’t carry coins anyway.
But just because something is sensible on paper doesn’t mean it translates to real world behavior. In this case, the problem was assuming payment methods were equal – that the value of the coins was the same whether they were thrown in the pool or tapped on a payment reader.
But coins represent more than currency – people weren’t simply making a donation, they were releasing their hopes and dreams to the Universe. Added to this, visitors would see everyone else’s coins in the pool, making the act of giving public. There’s no social proof with a credit card tap. This story is a $170,000 reminder that failing to understand and design for real-world behavior has real-world consequences.
