National Take a Walk in the Park Day

“Take short walks in the park down a happy trail.” Frederick Lenz

National Take a Walk in the Park Day celebrates local parks.

Taking a walk can relieve stress, ease worries, and otherwise make every day just a little bit better. Enjoy the day by exploring the wildlife and beauty of the natural world around you, getting some exercise and reconnecting with nature.

About the picture: Ethan and Tessa are enjoying Austin’s own McKinney Falls State Park.

Dad Jokes | Parks Edition

Q: Why did the scarecrow become a park ranger?
A: Because he was outstanding in his field.

Q: Why don’t trees ever answer trivia questions about logging?
A: They’re afraid of getting stumped.

Q: Why didn’t the dendrochronologist get married?
A: She was happy just dating trees.

Q: Did you know there’s a man in the park selling batteries?
A: He’s selling C cells by the seesaw?

A man goes for a walk in the park. On his walk, he sees two men sitting on a park bench and looking very down. “What’s wrong?” He asked them. One of the men looks up at the man and lets out a long sigh: “Take a seat and I’ll tell you.” Curious, he sits down next to the two men. “The paint’s wet,” the man says.

Q: Why is it that, whenever I take my dog to the part, the ducks bite him?
A: She must be a purebread.

Q: When you go to the park, does your dog chase people on a bicycle?
A: No, he doesn’t own a bicycle.

ASWi Customer Spotlight | LBJ Foundation

ASWi is very humbled, privileged, and proud to be able to serve some of the most innovative organizations in the country as their ERP and/or IT Services provider and trusted business advisor.

Today, I would like to spotlight and introduce the LBJ Foundation to the rest of the ASWi community. Established by President and Mrs. Johnson in 1969, the LBJ Foundation is a non-profit organization comprised of a board of trustees and administrative staff that supports the LBJ Presidential Library and the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.

The LBJ Presidential Library, operated under the auspices of the National Archives and Records Administration, maintains the archive of President Johnson’s administration and political career and promotes his legacy while providing, in his words, “a springboard for the future” through public programming aimed at
addressing the issues of our times.

The Foundation provides support for the Library by enhancing educational outreach and museum exhibits, administering grants for researchers and scholars, and directing public programming.

The LBJ School of Public Affairs embodies President Johnson’s living legacy by nurturing leaders and public servants in the hopes that they will pursue what he called “the oldest most basic mission of our country: to right wrong; to do justice; to serve man.”

The Foundation provides financial support for the school for the outstanding education it offers its graduate students in public policy and government affairs, community outreach, and global initiatives. These three institutions, all bearing our thirty-sixth President’s name, preserve his consequential legacy while pursuing his hopeful vision for the future.

ASWi IT Services Spotlight | The Importance of Backups

By Cody Sparks, ASWi Senior Consultant

The Fragility of Digital Data
Imagine waking up one day to find your computer has crashed, or your smartphone has been stolen. Suddenly, years of memories, important documents, and irreplaceable files vanish into thin air. The reality is, digital data is fragile. Hardware failure, malware attacks, accidental deletion, or theft can all lead to irreversible data loss. Without adequate backups, recovering these lost treasures can become an insurmountable challenge.

The Power of Backups
By creating regular backups of your digital data, you’re essentially creating insurance against potential disasters. Backup solutions come in various forms, ranging from external hard drives and USB flash drives to cloud storage services and specialized backup software. Each option offers its own set of advantages, catering to different needs and preferences.

Protect What Matters Most
Backing up your data isn’t just about preserving files; it’s about safeguarding memories, protecting livelihoods, and ensuring peace of mind. Business documents and projects represent countless hours of effort and dedication. Losing them could not only be emotionally distressing but also financially damaging.

Proactive Approach to Digital Security
Backups serve as a crucial component of a comprehensive digital security strategy. Rather than waiting for disaster to strike, taking a proactive approach by regularly backing up your data minimizes the impact of potential threats. It’s akin to wearing a seatbelt while driving – you hope you’ll never need it, but you’re grateful it’s there in case of an accident.

Conclusion
In essence, backups are the cornerstone of digital resilience. They provide a safety net, offering reassurance in an unpredictable digital landscape. Whether it’s document repositories and file shares, accounting databases, or company mailboxes, every piece of data deserves protection. By evaluating your data protection
needs and developing a backup strategy to ensure that protection, you can be prepared when disaster strikes. Don’t wait until it’s too late – reach out to ASWi to ensure your data is adequately protected today, and safeguard your digital world for tomorrow.

Sales 101 | 7 Words You Should Use More Often

By Bri Williams

There are seven words I guarantee you, your customers will love: “There is nothing you need to do.”

Here’s an example:

A few weeks ago I received an email from my website host.

Hello Bri,
You may have heard about the new email requirements for bulk senders. Yahoo & Gmail have announced updated requirements to deliver email to their platforms that will better secure customers’ inboxes and provide an improved email experience.

What does this mean for you?
You do not need to take any action to remain compliant. All the necessary updates are being handled by us your behalf.

To keep you informed, below are the 3 key requirements from Google and Yahoo.

There are 3 things I love about this email:
1. Nothing to do
They clearly outlined what it was about and then told me I didn’t have to do anything because they were doing it for me.

2. Salience
Using bold and color highlights draw attention to the most important parts of the message.

3. Goodwill
And the final flourish of clever copy?

They have signaled the effort they have gone to, with “all necessary updated handled by us on your behalf”.

By communicating what effort they are expending to help me, they are building up goodwill which means I will be more likely to stick with them.
