International Pay It Forward Day
“If you can’t pay it back, pay it forward.” Catherine Ryan Hyde

No matter what challenges each of us face, we all have also been greatly blessed beyond our wildest hopes. If someone told 10 year old me living in a Minnesota village of 65 people that I would be spending a couple years working heavily in Southeastern Asia, live by the sea (Sydney, Australia), in the mountains (Montana) and Texas, meet world famous people including World Leaders and other historical figures, and be the father of 3 amazing people, I am not sure 10 year old me could conceive how it would be possible.

All the above was only made possible by others paying it forward, from my university advisor, many managers and mentors, family members and the Lord above that I was able to experience the many blessings I have received. I hope you are in a similar circumstance; if so, today is a great day to reflect on additional ways we can generate ripple of kindness that continue to affect the world and people around us.

The story behind the picture:
For decades, 3Value’s Managing Partner has been paying it forward by speaking to students at the University of Arkansas to share his experiences and what the ERP landscape looks like in an effort to expand the world of possibilities for them
as they make their life choices, professionally and personally.

Dad Jokes | Blessings Edition

For all my Canadian friends:
God was creating all the countries and it was Canada’s turn to be blessed, so the Lord provided them with beauty, natural resources, and friendly, happy people.

The angels asked: “Aren’t you blessing Canada just a little TOO much?” God replied: “Wait ’till you see the next door neighbors I’m going to give them.”

“I feel very blessed to have two wonderful, healthy children who keep me completely grounded, sane, and throw up on my shoes just before I go to an awards show just so I know to keep it real.” Reese Witherspoon.

Managed Services | Cybersecurity Protection

cyber

In today’s increasingly connected world, cybersecurity has become a critical concern for all organizations. Our mission-critical information is becoming evermore digitized (“digital transformation), which both increases our capabilities and makes us vulnerable to cyberattacks.

Here are some essential cybersecurity tips to keep you safe:

• Strong passwords: One of the simplest yet most effective ways to protect your accounts is by using strong, unique passwords. Avoid using common passwords like "123456" or "password," and steer clear of reusing passwords across multiple sites. A strong password typically includes a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

• Password Manager: For added security, consider using a password manager, such as LastPass, to store and generate complex passwords.

These tools can help you manage multiple accounts without the need to remember every password.

Multi-Factor Authentication
• Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring two forms of verification when logging into an account: something you know (like your password) and something you have (such as a code sent to your phone).

Enabling 2FA can significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your accounts, even if your password is compromised.

VPN When Using Public Wi-Fi
Public Wi-Fi networks, such as those found in coffee shops or airports, can be vulnerable to hackers looking to intercept your data.

If you must use public Wi-Fi, use a Virtual Private Network (VPN). A VPN encrypts your internet traffic, making it more difficult for hackers to snoop on your online activities.

Unfortunately, these tips are just the tip of the iceberg. Please let our Customer Success Manager Keith Wood (keithw@3Value.com, 717-581-1226) know if you would like to learn more about implementing a cybersecurity strategy and/or improving your existing cybersecurity infrastructure.

HubSpot | Data Sync for Acumatica CRM
You can sync data between your Acumatica CRM module and HubSpot Sales module (all HubSpot plans) without manual data entry or messy, time-consuming imports.

Here’s what you get with Data Sync by HubSpot:
• Two-way sync: Data is shared between Acumatica CRM and HubSpot in real time
• Default field mappings: Set-up is quick with out-of-the-box field mappings already created for you
• Historical syncing: Your existing data will sync right away, and updates will sync as they happen

Note:
This is a sync between the HubSpot Sales module and the Acumatica Cloud ERP’s CRM module. It is not a sync with any other HubSpot module or Acumatica Cloud ERP module.

Integration Features
Sync Acumatica CRM and HubSpot in the background
• Make manual data entry a thing of the past by syncing data (see below) between HubSpot and Acumatica CRM.

• When records are created or updated in either app, that information will be automatically shared with the other one.

• You can also add a filter for any Acumatica CRM field or HubSpot list to sync exactly what you want—and nothing you don’t.

Custom Field Mappings
• Out-of-the-box default field mappings make set-up quick and keep your data clean and organized.

• Custom field mappings are available with Operations Hub Starter or above. Acumatica custom field types will only sync one-way into HubSpot.

Shared Data
How it works
Each object has field mappings that connect matching information from each app. Default mappings are listed below. If you want to change these default mappings or create your own, custom field mappings are available with Operations Hub Starter and up.

Note:
Custom field mappings can only be set up syncing from Acumatica towards HubSpot. If you would like to learn more about HubSpot’s Data Sync for Acumatica CRM, please let our Customer Success Manager Keith Wood know (keithw@3Value.com, 717-581-1226).

Leadership 101 - Should you signal how busy you are?
by Bri Williams
When you are a business owner, is it good to drive an expensive car or not? Will it attract customers by signaling your success or will it remind them they will be funding your lavish lifestyle?

I’ve often wondered this about real estate agents, the majority of whom seem to drive late model European vehicles, so I was interested to read new research that probed the benefits and risks of signaling your success as a service firm.

In particular, the researchers investigated two ways people tend to gauge your success: how busy you are and how wealthy you seem.

How busy you are
When you are a service firm, time is perishable. If that table at your restaurant or hour of your consulting day isn’t booked, you lose that chance to make money. Making the most of your ‘billable’ time is therefore important. It’s no surprise that signaling you are busy is therefore a good thing. It suggests people trust you, thereby increasing the odds new clients will trust you too.

How wealthy you seem
There’s no question that some businesses are doing it tough. Economic conditions such as inflation, interest rates and the
cost of labour and raw materials, are placing a strain on business and personal finances.

The question is whether signaling how tough you’re doing it can be a good or bad thing? For example, does hearing how city cafes are struggling with the drop in workday traffic make people want to spend more as a result? Should you post on social media that you need more work?

To answer that question, researchers showed 418 New Yorkers three Yelp restaurant reviews and had them choose which
restaurant they preferred.
• One of the reviews was modified to vary how busy and resource poor the restaurant seemed.
• For example, in the poor condition the review mentioned how the restaurant had been on the verge of closing many times, and how inexpensive meals were.
• In the time poor version, it was described as being very busy and suggested booking ahead.

Then, so the task seemed less hypothetical, participants were told they could possibly win a $30 voucher to spend at their
restaurant of choice.

Here’s what happened:
• In the poor condition, the restaurant was perceived as warmer than others.
• In the busy condition, the restaurant was perceived as more competent than others.
• When the restaurant was both busy and poor, people said they’d be more likely to go than when it was just poor or just busy.

Struggle can be attractive.

What’s interesting about this study is that it gives hope to businesses who are struggling. Your lack of resources can be perceived as a positive, particularly in B2C contexts.

Customers will tend to think you value relationships over profit, and that you are friendly and trustworthy. All the better if you are busy, because this bolsters how competent you seem.

In a B2B context, where the priority is an economic rather than social exchange, being busy (and therefore competent) is
more likely to be valued over resource scarcity (signaling warmth).

So, should you drive around town in an expensive car?

It will depend on how you wish to be perceived by your customers. If I’m looking for a kind, relationship-minded real estate agent, it could be a real turn off. If I want someone to drive a killer price, then they should probably drive a fancy rig.

In summary:
• It’s okay to signal you aren’t flush with cash, because people will tend to ascribe warmth to you.
• It’s good to signal you are time poor, because people will think you are competent.
• It’s best to signal both, because this increases the odds they’ll want to work with you.
