Happy National Make a Difference Day!

We all have opportunities every day to change the world, whether we’re adopting a Highway to patrol for litter, walking dogs at your local shelter, visiting folks in hospice or any other acts of volunteerism and helpfulness.

As humans, we often have a tendency to assume that we are so small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things that we are not going to be able to make a significant difference. However, this could not be further from the truth.

Your acts of respectful kindness to those in need will foster and grow in many wonderful and unknown ways that will make an actual difference in the world.

At 2:30 pm CT today, the North Dakota State University Bison will be kicking off a game in the dome in the picture. Unfortunately, in the Spring it has all too often been a make shift sandbag factory where hundreds of volunteers, from kids to seniors, have tirelessly worked to save the homes of their neighbors.

Leader: How many volunteers do we have for this year’s fundraiser?
Committee Member: 384 volunteers.
Leader: Awesome, can you round them up for me?
Committee Member: Sure, that would be 400 volunteers.

Q: What do you call a bricklayer who volunteers their time?
A: A freemason

Q: Why did a knife thrower start using volunteers in his show?
A: They were part of his target audience.

Q: Can you volunteer for the Pasta Dinner fundraiser next week?
A: I’ll check my colander and be sure to set aside some thyme for it.

I received a lot of positive feedback about the emojis I include in the email that these weekly Happenings newsletters are attached to, so I want to thank those of you who sent the positive comments sharing that you like the emojis (and thank you to those of you of who bear through the emojis and choose not to send me negative comments on them!) and share which how I include them.

While you are in a Microsoft Outlook email message, if you click the [Windows] and [.] keys, you will get a pop-up window like this one where you can type in keywords and get a list of emojis that you can copy and past into your email.

Bonus tip: You can also use the same keys to bring up the emoji window in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Your instance of Acumatica Cloud ERP allows you have an unlimited number of branches within an unlimited number of companies. These companies (and their branches) are contained within a “Tenant”, which in turn is contained within an Acumatica Cloud ERP “Instance”.

Acumatica Cloud ERP Terminology
– An Instance is an installation of Acumatica Cloud ERP.
– A Tenant is a grouping of companies within an Instance. All the companies within a single Tenant share the same set of customer records, supplier records, items records and General Ledger accounts.

Sharing Data Between Companies &/or Branches
Being able to share information between companies in the same Tenant can be extremely useful and this a native functionality for your Acumatica Cloud ERP instance. There is an optional addon called Intercompany Accounting that will automate transactions between companies and/or branches within the same Tenant.

Not Sharing Data Between Companies &/or Branches
There are valid reasons for not wanting information to be shared between companies and/or branches within your Acumatica instance.
This separation can be accomplished in 3 different ways:
1. Restriction Groups could be setup within a Tenant to restrict what, if any, information can be shared within multiple companies and/or branches.
2. If companies are within separate Tenants, by definition, they will automatically have separate data records.
3. If companies are within separate instances of Acumatica Cloud ERP, by definition, they will have separate databases and installations of Acumatica.

Note: Options 2 and 3 may require an addition to your existing Acumatica Cloud ERP subscription.
